I am a textile designer specialising in creating one off, hand printed and embellished textiles for fashion.

I have graduated with First Class Honours from Edinburgh College of Art. Having already gained extensive work experience through internship and work placements - including 3 months with Diane Von Furstenberg in New York - I am now seeking full-time of freelance opportunities, as well as collaborative projects or suitable further internship.

I am interested in how fabric can store information and record time through how it wears, disintegrates and changes over time due to how it is touched, worn and handled, essentially recording human interaction.

Rather than work with pre-existing stains and flaws in fabric I create fabrics for fashion that look like they are falling apart or worn away, but in a beautiful way. Taking inspiration from patterns and textures found in nature such as moss, lichen and bark, I achieve this by building up and taking away layers and textures through techniques including devore, embroidery, embellishment and fabric manipulation.

I am very technique led in the way that I work, relishing in the labour intensive nature of much of what I create. As well as playing to my strengths as a textile designer, the time put into a piece adds another dimension to the concept of my work: the effort and time I put into each sample or garment I work with acts as a way of recording my interaction with the fabric, and the time that passes as I develop it.
